Rieber & Søn Summer Interns 2021
As summer interns, we’ve had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects for the company’s portfolio companies. The learning curve has been steep, no two days have been the same, and we’ve looked forward to going to work every day.

When we arrived, full of anticipation, for our first day of work at Kalfaret, we were greeted by many smiling faces. Throughout the day, we had the opportunity to get to know each other, the staff, and Rieber & Søn better. After workshops and a delicious lunch, we were divided into two teams and introduced to our first projects of the summer.
A typical project begins with a comprehensive project and company introduction. Even though we’ve been divided into two teams, we’ve been able to participate in all project introductions and project presentations—which has been very exciting. When carrying out projects, we’ve been given free rein to interpret and design the projects ourselves. Some projects have taken a couple of weeks, while others have taken the entire summer. The freedom to decide which project to work on, as well as the freedom to shape the tasks ourselves, has been both challenging and educational. Each project has concluded with a presentation to the project sponsor and management. It has been interesting to receive feedback on the work we’ve done, and we’ve felt throughout the process that our efforts have made a difference. We’ve already seen how the work we’ve done has been utilized by the project sponsor, which is very motivating. Other projects have laid the groundwork for future decisions, and we’re therefore looking forward to seeing how things develop.
It has been interesting to gain insight into how a skilled investment firm like Rieber & Søn evaluates both new and existing investments. In addition, it’s been a pleasure getting to know the staff. We were warmly welcomed from day one, and it’s been easy to ask for help whenever we’ve had questions. Furthermore, social dinners have helped create a positive work environment, and the atmosphere among us interns has been excellent.
Thank you for a wonderful summer!
