Rieber & Søn is a Norwegian family-owned investment company with industrial roots dating back to 1839.
Family-owned since 1839
Rieber & Søn is owned by the Rieber family and has been operating out of Bergen since 1839. For nearly two hundred years, the company has served as a trading house, an industrial group, and a publicly traded food conglomerate. Following its sale to Orkla in 2012, the capital was put to work once again, this time as an investment company.
Today, we focus on both new investments and active ownership in our portfolio companies. We have about fifteen employees in Bergen and Singapore, and we invest in unlisted companies and listed securities.
We manage our own funds. This means we have no external investors to report to, no fund term that expires, and no fixed investment horizon.

Our headquarters are located in a historic building just outside downtown Bergen. The building was constructed as the administrative headquarters for Hansa Brewery in 1926 and has been owned by Rieber & Søn since 1989.
In 2024, the premises were renovated and adapted to meet the needs of a modern work environment. Today, the office combines historical character with a functional setting for work, collaboration, and social gatherings.
